We are deep into the dog days of summer, so in this edition of Pet Product Delivery News we address some seasonal issues including 1) Flea Control and 2) a big sale on flea products for your pet and the home, 3) we answer the question, "How do I keep my pets cool?"4) In addition, we will introduce a new product Grizzly Super Treats Oven Baked Crunchy Cat Treats and 5) we answer the questions, "How do I really know that my groomer is an NCMG?" 6) and "What's new with Susan Thixton?" 7) Finally, we end with our Meet the Breed feature. 1) Every year for the last 32+ years, pet parents have asked me about ways to get rid of fleas. In response, I wrote the opus to flea control which I update every June. If you have a pet and live in Southeast Texas, I highly recommend that you read Flea Control 2016.

3) Frequently, pet parents call me out to their homes because they want to make their pet cat of dog cool by cutting their hair short. A short hair style is great for reducing shedding in the home and for easier maintenance. Unfortunately, it does not cool the pet. Cats and dogs cool themselves by panting. They do not perspire like we do and need their hair for protection. Here are some tips to help your best buddy stay cool:
a) Do NOT walk or run your dog on pavement when it is very hot. If you can not hold your bare hand on the pavement for 5 seconds then your pet's feet should not touch it either.
b) If your pet has long hair, comb and brush it regularly. Loose layers insulate year round. Matted hair doesn't.
c) Keep your pet cat or dog indoors and/or in it's own shady backyard. Do not leave your pet to run the street alone ever (this just isn't safe any time of year).
d) DO provide fresh, clean water daily.

Your pet is too important to let an untrained or inexperienced person care for it.
6) Why does the AAFCO want to keep consumer advocates quiet? Susan Thixton is not allowed to report her findings to pet parents. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Read the story here:
