Dear Pet Parents,

We are deep into the dog days of summer, so in this edition of Pet Product Delivery News we address some seasonal issues including 1) Flea Control and 2) a big sale on flea products for your pet and the home, 3) we answer the question, "How do I keep my pets cool?"4) In addition, we will introduce a new product Grizzly Super Treats Oven Baked Crunchy Cat Treats and 5) we answer the questions, "How do I really know that my groomer is an NCMG?" 6) and  "What's new with Susan Thixton?" 7) Finally, we end with our Meet the Breed feature. That's a lot of news, so here we go!!!

1) Every year for the last 32+ years, pet parents have asked me about ways to get rid of fleas. In response, I wrote the opus to flea control which I update every June. If you have a pet and live in Southeast Texas, I highly recommend that you read Flea Control 2016.

2) Now that you know what your options for flea control, here's an offer to make shopping for products a little easier. The following products are on sale now through Monday, July 11th @ 5:00p.:

NaturVet No Flea Carpet Crystals - 26.99 Sale! 19.99
NaturVet Herbal Repellent Flea and Tick Shampoo 16oz. - 9.99 Sale! 8.99
NaturVet Herbal Repellent Flea and Tick Powder 4oz. - 11.99 Sale! 5.99
NaturVet Herbal Repellent Flea and Tick Spray 16oz. - 11.99 Sale! 9.99
OrangeGuard 32oz. Home Pest Control Spray - 13.99 Sale! 10.99

This sale is good on existing inventory only. First come, first serve. When they're gone, they're gone.

3) Frequently, pet parents call me out to their homes because they want to make their pet cat of dog cool by cutting their hair short. A short hair style is great for reducing shedding in the home and for easier maintenance. Unfortunately, it does not cool the pet. Cats and dogs cool themselves by panting. They do not perspire like we do and need their hair for protection. Here are some tips to help your best buddy stay cool:

a) Do NOT walk or run your dog on pavement when it is very hot. If you can not hold your bare hand on the pavement for 5 seconds then your pet's feet should not touch it either.

b) If your pet has long hair, comb and brush it regularly. Loose layers insulate year round. Matted hair doesn't.

c) Keep your pet cat or dog indoors and/or in it's own shady backyard. Do not leave your pet to run the street alone ever (this just isn't safe any time of year).

d) DO provide fresh, clean water daily.

4) This week I picked up an amazing new product: Grizzly Super Treats Oven Baked Crunchy Cat Treats! They are only 6.99 a jar.  My cats Miriam and Claudia LOVE them! Here's the 411:
Grizzly Super Treats Oven Baked Crunchy Cat Treats contain more than 5% Omega-3s—an excellent alternative to Grizzly Salmon Oil. The crunchy texture really satisfies, while the Omegas help support a healthy, lustrous coat. 300+ treats in every container are packed with bits of ground, smoked wild salmon for a flavor that cats crave.
In addition to NO grains, Grizzly Super Treats Oven Baked Crunchy Cat Treats  contain NO fillers, glycols, salts or sugars. What they DO include are healthy long chain Omega-3 fatty acids from wild Alaskan salmon to provide essential health and immune system support.

Ingredients: Salmon meal, salmon, smoked salmon, salmon oil, porcine gelatin, kelp, tocopherols (preservative).5) Recently, I saw a pet salon ad in a local pet magazine stating that their groomer was a National Certified Master Groomer like myself. I was very excited and wanted to meet this person, assuming they had just moved to town or were recently certified. I was disappointment to find out that while the owner of the salon was indeed an NCMG, she has been retired for years. The younger groomers @ that salon are the ones actually doing the work and none of them have their Master Groomer certificate from the National Dog Groomers Association of America. So, folks, do yourself a favor, don't believe everything that is advertised. And if a groomer claims to be certified through our national trade organization, ask to see his or her wall certificate or wallet size card. Everyone of us that is a genuine NCMG carries proof. Your pet is too important to let an untrained or inexperienced person care for it.

6) Why does the AAFCO want to keep consumer advocates quiet? Susan Thixton is not allowed to report her findings to pet parents. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Read the story here:

7) And last, but not least, Meet the Breed: the Japanese Bobtail!

I am really thankful for giving us an idea of the possible effects regarding the numerous issues you stated. Fleas are really a trouble once your pets catch them at least once in their lifetime. The only possible way to avoid getting them is to give your pets a weekly bath and clean their peripherals at least twice a week. You really made some interesting points on how to understand pets whenever they perspire and made me understand them a lot better. I will really keep all of your suggestion and points in mind in taking care of my pet and persuade other people to try it too.
