Fun with a Purpose

Last Saturday I was delighted to be part of an event held @ noname Fit studios to benefit a rescue group I had not heard of before: The Forgotten Dogs of the Fifth Ward Project. The Forgotten Dogs is a grass roots movement to, as they so aptly put it, create a circle of compassion and care. Here are some of the unforgettable faces I met last weekend...
One of the things that made this event so darn much fun was the positive energy of Casey Leung, the owner of noname Fit studios and his entire staff. This is a health club where fitness is more like family. There's even a lounge area right in the middle of the gym, so that members can become acquainted and support each others goals. It was that spirit that was prevalent throughout the event.
There were babies into fitness (with a little help from their daddies), a doggie web cam, kids totin' pups, a loveable pitbull that made short work of a Floppy Quack, dapper doggies stylin' t-shirts and dresses, a photo booth and more! It was a busy event and I didn't have time to get very many good photos, but you get the idea. (Eric, if you're reading this, send photos c'il vous plait!) And, it was nice to see a lot of local businesses showing their support for this great rescue group. Regrettably, I only got to meet and really talk to a couple of people @ the other booths, but I very much enjoyed talking w/ Jon Lim of Camp Run-a-Mutt. (He gave me some cards for his doggie daycare with a discount, if any of you is interested, let me know.)

At the end of a six hour event, I felt surprisingly alert and happy. Unfortunately, I know that when the party was over there are still some doggies that need a lot of help. So, I've decided to extend my 10% donation on retail products through the end of July. Just type Forgotten Dogs in the subject line of your e-mail when you place your order and I'll see that 10% of your total goes to them.

And, on a final note, congratulations go out to Amanda Ngyen! She was the winner of the Pet Product Delivery.com drawing for 50.00 in Holistic Health Products for Pets
! Amanda chose to have Solid Gold 15lb. Wee Bit dry dog kibble and OrangeGuard 32oz. Pest Control Spray delivered direct to her door. Way to go Amanda!

Have a Great Evening Everyone!

If you ever try to train your dog to jump over something and you find out that it can barely jump a couple of inches off the ground. This means that your dog is either overweight, under muscled or simply too big. To get this off right away big dogs do have bigger muscles and such like that but many of the times even keeping them fit is hard because of how much they consume.
